The Ninety Nine Restaurant, headquartered in Woburn, Mass., has earned a strong reputation as a friendly, comfortable place to gather and enjoy great food and great drink at a “terrific” prices.
John Grady has had a lot to do with the Ninety Nine’s success as the company serves more than 20 million customers a year in over 100 restaurants throughout the Northeast. He has served as president since January of 2004.
Besides fostering a dynamic menu, Mr. Grady is proud of staff retention and the Ninety’s record in the community. Ninety Nine employs more than 7,000 people, many of whom have worked for the organization for more than 15 years. The company’s team member turnover rate is 40 percent – quite a feat in an industry where employee turnover rates are often as high as 150 percent! Ninety Nine has one of the lowest turnover rates for every position it offers, from manager to team members.
Mr. Grady has had many positions at the Ninety Nine serving as president, vice president of training, director of training, operations director, general manager, assistant manager, and bartender.
He then left the Ninety Nine to join Restaurant Brokers of America and returned to the Ninety-Nine in 1991 to become director of training. From 2004, to the president, Mr. Grady has served as president and the growth continued with six to 10 restaurants added per year through 2009.
Mr. Grady has served on the Mass. Restaurant Assn. from 2005 to 2010 as a member of the Board of Directors and from 2011 to the present as vice president and member of the Executive Committee.
